Boulder, CO -- Today the Association of North American Professional Road Cyclists announced renowned athletes advocate and union executive Walter Palmer has joined the ANAPRC Advisory Board.
"It’s an honor to be involved with such an engaged group of athletes who are the greatest advocates for the sport of cycling.” said Palmer. “In my experience, the more involved athletes are in the governance of their sport, the more the sport thrives, benefitting all stakeholders.”
Mr. Palmer most recently served as the Deputy Executive Director of International Relations and Marketing at the NBA Players Association. Before his time with the NBPA, Mr. Palmer led UNI World Athletes -- an international collective of major players associations and a sector of UNI Global Union that includes FIFPro (the world footballers' association), the International Rugby Players' Association (IRPA), the National Football Players Association (NFLPA), and the Australian Athletes' Alliance (AAA).
"Walter is a world-class expert in building athletes unions from the ground up and we are thrilled to have his advice as ANAPRC takes the next step in its development," said ANAPRC Executive Director Michael Carcaise. “With Walter’s guidance we will put best practices in place for governance and long-term strategic planning.”
